  Clarification

19-03-2012

KEK j.s.c expresses its discontent with the declaration of Nazim Haliti, from the Consortium of Civil Society Organization related to energy tariffs. KEK j.s.c clarifies that it has requested three levels of increase, specifically 23, 12, or 9 %. This request is not as a result of mismanagement as Mr. Haliti says while offering the arguments that do not correspondent with reality, but are based on a approved methodology from ERO that is binding to KEK. Mr. Haliti initially determined that Power Plant “Kosova B” will be closed on 2017 and that KEK is mismanaging by investing in this power plant. This is not true because this power plant is foreseen to be under the operation till 2025 year.

Further, he says that losses are 37-40% and this he calls mismanagement. But, if analysed there properly the losses that were 55% are actually decreased to 36% and tend to fall further down also during this year and this shows that we are not dealing with mismanagement, but with an efficient management. During four year period collection was doubled, the generation was increased continuously 5-10% with same capacities and the supply with coal to all existing power plants until their closure was secured. Those results are not mismanagement, but an efficient management, which have made KEK a stable company.

Management of KEK is not satisfied with the level of energy losses despite the continuous decrease and working against this without support from two main mechanisms such as the civil society and courts. Fighting each negative phenomenon that is present in society is never a duty solely of one subject but all levels of society.  Therefore KEK kindly asks the civil society that instead of baseless accuses to offer the support and to help corporation in further reduction of loses.
