Fire in PP Kosova A caused minimal damages

01-05-2012

KEK j.s.c informs that yesterday on 30.04.2012, in the afternoon, fire was caused in power plant “Kosova A”. Two conveyer belts that supply A3 unit with coal were caught in fire. Except those burned conveyer belts, the fire did not cause any further damage. None of KEK employees were injured and the generation process was not affected either. The fire was damp down thanks to the commitment of KEK employees and the mobilisation of all relevant institutions for which the Corporation expresses acknowledgment.

Mr. Fadil Çitaku, Chairman of Board of Directors of KEK, Mr. Arben Gjukaj – Managing Director of KEK and senior management of Corporation immediately went to the scene to inspect the situation and to offer their support. Once the fire was under control, a professional commission was established to verify damages caused by the fire.

The situation was normalised and KEK will return in operation unit A4 today while the damaged equipments will be replaced soon.

This problem did not affect the energy supply situation which yesterday was without load shedding as during two last months and will be also today and the following days.
