KEK has started with huge investment on Distribution Network respectively in the construction of Substation Prishtina 7. The contract was signed between KEK and ABB Company. “The investment from about 5 million Euros is necessary for Prishtina’s city since the city is extended especially in the Sothern side”, said Areben Gjukaj, Managing Director of KEK. Neighbourhoods like Lagja e Spitalit, Mati I, Hajvalia and Çagllavica are multiplied in the citizens’ number and settlements and there exist tendencies for further extension. In that part is also Kishnica’a mine and assets of enterprises for water supply “Prishtina”. There is accepted to be included in this part also industrial zone respectively around area of QMI.  

This has increased the request for electric energy in the highest level for this part. The Corporation aiming to work according the development trends and aiming to supply customers in more qualitative manner has decided to start with the construction of new Substation  110/10(20)kV Prishtina 7 with the capacity of 2x40 MVA. Such self investment will solve the problems for New Prishtina. The beneficial will be hospitals that will have alternative energy supply in case of any emergencies.  

Prishtina 7 will enable KEK to find separate lines 10(20) kV for industrial customers if there is required” added Gjukaj.

New SS will release from upload also capacities of SS Prishtina 2, TS 35/10 kV Prishtina II, Prishtina III and Badovc.

The construction of SS will be done from ABB Company, Swiss- Swedish Company who was selected with opened tender. This Company is between the biggest international conglomerates wide the world in the technology area and offers high security in the project conclusion.  “This is a very important investment from KEK”. ABB Company is interested everywhere were they are working to cooperate closely with local companies. This will be done also in Kosovo aiming that local companies benefits from global experiences of ABB” said  Darko Eisenhuth the director of branch in Croatia responsible person for ABB activities in Balkan.

The Project of SS Prishtina 7 has main parts as follow: 

•       Extension of existing busbars system 110 kV in the SS Prishtina 4 220/110 kV with two additional areas in transmission 110/10(20) kV;

•       Construction of new substation 110/10(20) kV, 2 x 40 MVA from KEK side.
